Ruth McCommon, a retired nurse, missionary, and member of First Baptist Church of Peachtree City, wanted to make a difference in the lives of residents who had no insurance. She brought together a team comprising of a pastor, a nurse, an administrator, a pharmacist, a lawyer, a CPA, and a church, and opened the doors of the Healing Bridge Clinic on September 24th, 2009.

The Healing Bridge Clinic has resided at its current location in Peachtree City, Ga., since its inception. Constructed in 1971 as a Kinder Care facility, this structure has seen its share of impact over the years, with little to no maintenance. After being purchased by First Baptist Church in 1993, the building quickly transitioned into a home for a mother’s morning out program, later making space for a children’s ministry, high school youth ministry, as well as a Japanese Church space, and finally serving jointly as home for Iglesia Cristo Reina Church and the Healing Bridge Clinic.

As the Healing Bridge Clinic became the sole occupant of our building, it launched a capital campaign to fund needed renovations. With a 10-year lease signed, work began to transform our clinic and expand the care we give to those who are uninsured and underserved in our community. Our clinic at 215 Willow Bend Road is now a functioning, updated medical clinic.
